My Compositions.
As well as arranging I do a bit of composing myself and you can hear some of my compositions here. I use Sibelius to write the scores and make the audio files. I sometimes don't get round to giving my compositions titles so you'll have to do with a description of them instead.
IMPORTANT NOTE: You need to have stereo headphones in the right ears OR stereo speakers to hear these properly. If not then you will not hear parts of the music. Most 'normal' computer speakers will be fine though. (They are stereo speakers).
Night Raid
I wrote this piece of music to a scene from a film which I had been involved in making (called "Baal vs. Yahweh". You can see our group's website here). The scene involved three explorers sneaking into a house in the middle of the night looking for something so I called the piece "Night Raid". There are three themes used (one very breifly); the main theme which is heard throughout the piece. This theme has a counter melody as well as melody. The other two themes are the piano ostinato which goes EGGF# and a melody in flute just before the 2/4 bar build up. It's scored for full orchestra with extra percussion and a piano.

4/4 - Fast - Adventure
This piece has two themes in it; the upbeat moving part and a slower brass fanfare/hymn type thing. It's can probably be described as an adventure theme for a film or something like that.

4/4 - Medium Speed - Mystical
I wrote this piece after learning a bit about harps worked and also after studying Gustav Holst's 'Neptune' from the planets. It's not really a finished work, mearly a couple of ideas pushed together. It is scored for oboe, bassoon, french horn, trumpet, trombone, celeste, two harps, timpani, female four part choir and strings.

Adumbration
This piece is a culmination of a lot of themes that I have worked on. I got to conduct it with my school orchestra which was fun (but also very challenging). It features the strings a lot (well, I do play cello) and the brass weren't happy with the 127 bars rest at the end of the piece. Parts of it are inspired by film composers (particulary the 6/8 section at the end which is sort of similar to some Hans Zimmer stuff). The file is a lower quality audio than I would like because weebly won't let me upload more than 5MB files *sigh*. If you want to hear it better than you can email me for it.

6/8 - Fast - Pirates Like
This piece is definately based on the music from Pirates of the Caribbean. I started by mucking around with the chords in the middle section before developing that into a small melody. Then I added the start part with the woodwinds using some other chord progressions I had also been looking at and finally found an old melody of mine and wrote it in the end using a bridge and transposition to link it in.

Quack the Duck
This is just a very short piece I wrote for part of a school assignment. We had to make characters and then write a little piece of music to go with it.

Glub the Fish
This is another short piece I wrote as part of this school assignment. It's written for a string orchestra which is mostly playing pizzicato (plucking).

Roar the Bear
Yet another short piece I wrote as part of this school assignment. It's written for full orchestra and was slightly based off Richard Wagner's 'Steuerman, lass die wacht' from The Flying Dutchman. It's not very bear like but I was running out of time :-)
