Thanks to David for sending in his arrangement of The Mouth of Sauron from the complete recordings.
Thanks to Doranwen for sending in his arrangement of Arwen's Song for piano, voice and solo instrument.
The complete score for the Fellowship of the Ring has been transcribed for piano/short score and is now available for the first time. A note from the generous transcriber is below:
This transcription represents my best effort to capture as much information about the Fellowship of the Ring film score as possible, including notes, tempi, orchestration, song texts, and cues from the movie (extended edition). The transcription is in two-staff short score format, and although information content took precedence over playability, most of the transcription should be playable at the piano, with omission of certain lines if desired. The source for the transcription was the Complete Recordings, and it is indicated where material is cut from the film. The transcription is divided according to the track listings in the Complete Recordings.
Cues from the film are shown in italics, with dialogue in “quotation marks” and characters underlined. Song names, authors, and translators are shown in small text. Song lyrics are in normal type, with English translations shown beneath in italics. The matching of lyrics to the recordings is done only where possible, and is indebted to the timestamps on Marilynn Miller’s website www.amagpiesnest.com. At certain points translation was not possible, due to the jumbling of syntax in matching words to the music.
This transcription was done by a fan of Howard Shore’s score and Tolkien’s works, for the interest of other fans. It was inspired by Alcaeru’s website alcaeru.weebly.com and Doug Adams’s wonderful book “The Music of the Lord of the Rings Films.”
A huge thank-you to Mr M.W. from New Zealand for putting in a huge amount of effort to bring this great score to the piano.
I've added two new Lord of the Rings compilations, two pieces from the Hobbit (My Dear Frodo, Song of the Lonely Mountain) and 3 pieces from Return of the King (Twilight and Shadow, Edge of Night, Into the West). Thanks to those who contributed these arrangements.
An arrangement of the passing of the elves for four voice is now up thanks to Evan. You can find it on the Lord of the Rings page .
There's a lot of very high quality sheet music from the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit that's not on this website. Why don't you have a look at the official music from each of the films? You can purchase the music in both physical and kindle format from Amazon. Links are below:
I've had three more pieces sent in. Thanks to Evan for sending me arrangements of Moria (from the FotR Complete Recordings) and The Kraken (from Dead Man's Chest). Thanks also to Peter for providing a piano duet transcription of the first movement of Shore's Lord of the Rings Symphony.
About this site.
I have made this site as an easy way for people to download my arrangements of film music. I found that emailing sheet music to whoever wanted it was getting to be too much work.
